Complex cases do not begin as complex treatment plans. They begin as findings that need to be recognized, connected, and understood.
This six-level pathway teaches you to move from screening and diagnosis to treatment planning, orthotic therapy, Phase 2 finalization, and advanced case management.
Each level builds on the one before it, following the same clinical sequence you will use in practice: identify the problem, establish the diagnosis, understand the forces behind it, determine the appropriate treatment, manage the case over time, and finalize the result.
By Level 6, you bring your own complex cases and apply the entire process from records and diagnosis through Phase 1 and Phase 2 planning.
You are not learning isolated techniques. You are building a repeatable clinical process you can apply to the cases that walk into your practice.

Level 1
Screen, Examine & Diagnose
Build a repeatable approach to screening, comprehensive examination, diagnostic records, imaging, and functional assessment.
Learn to connect periodontal, biomechanical, functional, and dentofacial findings into a clear diagnosis before treatment begins.

Level 2
Occlusion, Function & Treatment Planning
Learn to read wear, force, occlusion, mandibular position, and joint findings as one functional pattern.
Use those findings to build and sequence a comprehensive treatment plan that addresses the cause, not just the presenting tooth.

Level 3
Diagnosis, Imaging & Appliance Selection
Go deeper into vertical dimension, functional signs, panoramic imaging, CBCT, MRI, and the etiology behind complex cases.
Define what needs to be corrected and select the appliance that matches the diagnostic objective.

Level 4
Complex Cases & Orthotic Therapy
Learn when a complex case requires an orthotic, how to establish the target mandibular position, and how to verify it.
Develop the hands-on skills to deliver and adjust the orthotic using contacts, guidance, TENS, bite registration, and TScan.

Level 5
Manage Phase 1 & Plan Phase 2
Follow the patient through orthotic therapy, recognize when the position has stabilized, and determine when Phase 1 is complete.
Choose and sequence the appropriate Phase 2 treatment, including orthodontics, restorative care, equilibration, or surgical referral.

Complete Complex Case Workup
Bring your own difficult cases and work them through from records and etiologic diagnosis to a complete treatment plan.
Apply the full method from Levels 1–5 to full-mouth, multidisciplinary, and previously failed cases, from Phase 1 through Phase 2.
