Hands-On Dental Course | Level 2
Design Understanding & Orthotic Delivery
Learn how examination findings and clinical records are translated into mandibular position, appliance design, delivery, and follow-up care.
Course description
Once a case has been examined and selected, the next step is determining where the jaw should be positioned and how that position will be recorded.
Level 2 connects diagnostic findings to appliance design and clinical delivery.
Participants review physiologic rest position, TENS indications and contraindications, bite registration, and Occlusal Plane Position.
Dr. Bis demonstrates how clinical records are translated into an orthotic design, including coverage, retention, vertical dimension, static contacts, and guidance.
The objective is not to train participants as appliance-design software technicians. It is to help dentists understand the decisions built into the appliance and recognize whether the final design supports the clinical objective.
Day two focuses on pre-delivery inspection, seating, initial adjustment, the modified nightguard, home-care instructions, follow-up, fees, sequencing, and patient consent.
Scans collected during this level are used to fabricate the participant’s appliance for Level 3.
Learning objectives
By the end of Level 2, participants will be able to:
Describe physiologic rest position and its clinical rationale
Identify the indications and contraindications for TENS
Apply a structured TENS protocol
